Kompolnas Asks For Clarification From The NTT Police Chief Regarding The Cut In Brata's Operational Funds

JAKARTA - The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) made a working visit to the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police to ask for clarification regarding the alleged deduction of Stah Brata Operations (OMB) funds at a number of Polres.

Members of Kompolnas from elements of the community, Poengky Indarti, said that the alleged deduction of the OMB funds reportedly occurred at the Kupang City Police, North Middle East Police (TTU) and the Lembata Police.

"The Kupang City Police Chief has been removed and transferred to Pamen Yanma for examination purposes at the Police Propam Division," Poengky told reporters as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 24.

During the working visit, said Poengky, Kompolnas saw that the efforts of the NTT Police Chief and the internal supervision of the Regional Police had been maximized in enforcing the law.

According to him, the Kapolda and Paminal of the NTT Police did not indiscriminately process the law of members suspected of being involved in taking responsibility for their actions.

"The alleged cut was by cutting the budget for members in charge of carrying out Steamous Operation Brata," said Poengky.

Poengky hopes that cases like this will not happen again. Kompolnas also encouraged members of the National Police who were victims of budget cuts to dare to report to the Kapolda and Irwasda and to Kompolnas, so that they could be immediately followed up with clarification to the Kapolda.

In addition, in this case, Kompolnas also investigated allegations of similar acts that occurred in a number of Regional Police. Given that the implementation period of the Great Operation Brata is still ongoing until October 20, 2024.

"Yes, we immediately sent a clarification letter and carried out direct cross-checks," he said.

Poengky said, in this case sometimes members of the National Police who are subordinates are afraid to report directly.

In fact, he continued, Kompolnas had received news via WhatsApp instant messages or letters.

To ensure that there is no similar practice, Kompolnas with work networks in the regions also monitors this, including NGOs and local journalists.

In addition to clarifying the issue of cutting Stah Brata's Operations funds, Kompolnas' working visit to the NTT Police is also in order to monitor the neutrality of the Police in the 2024 General Election.

"We also want to order to be careful in using the budget so that there are no allegations of cuts or misappropriation of the use of the budget," he said.

Poengky also reminded the ranks of the National Police that currently the community is very critical, so personnel must maintain attitudes and actions so as not to violate the law.

"Because news will definitely appear and it could be viral news that will definitely tarnish the good name of the National Police institution," he reminded.

Information about the cut in Stak Brata Operation funds by the Kupang City Police Chief Kombes Pol. Rishian Krisna Budhiaswanto went viral on social media at the end of December 2023. The news was followed up by Irwasda Polda NTT and investigated the alleged embezzlement of the 2023 West Great Operations fund.
