Head Of BNPT: Young People Must Be Protected From Being Infiltrated By Understanding Violence

JAKARTA - Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Komjen Mohammed Rycko Amelza Dahniel invites all police ranks not to be negligent and careless in protecting the country so that people, especially the younger generation, do not become infiltrated by radicalism.

"If you want to destroy this country, destroy its unity, destroy its tolerance and those targeted are the younger generation. So, we have to keep the younger generation from being infiltrated by violent ideas. Don't ignore and be careless in protecting the country," Rycko said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 24.

Rycko explained that the main raw material for the ideology of violence is intolerance. If the younger generation is exposed to this, the impact will be bad on the sustainability of the country.

Rycko also reminded that the phenomenon of zero attacks in 2023 does not close the gap between the development of terrorist network cells. This, he said, was evidenced by the recorded migration of teenagers from tolerant groups into passive intolerance, active intolerance, and finally exposed.

The Head of BNPT conveyed the message during a working visit to the North Sumatra Police (23/1).

Responding to the direction of the Head of BNPT, the Head of the North Sumatra Regional Police (Kapolda) Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendi stated that he was willing to participate in preventing the spread of understanding that was detrimental to the nation by involving elements of the TNI.

"Thank you BNPT for coming, we will collaborate in preventing, of course we will cooperate with the TNI in the process," said Agung.
