Megawati 77th Birthday, Prabowo Prays For Healthy Always

JAKARTA - The Minister of Defense who is also Prabowo Subianto's presidential candidate prays for the 5th President Megawati Soekarnoputri, who today celebrates her 77th birthday so that she is always healthy and has a long life.

"Of course we wish Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri a happy birthday, may you always live a long, healthy life, be given health and kindness by the Almighty," Prabowo said in response to reporters' questions on the sidelines of his activities in Bangkalan, Madura, East Java, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 23.

PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto conveyed that Megawati's anniversary celebration was simple.

"As in previous years, Megawati's birthday was held simply and attended by her family and close friends," said Hasto separately.

He said all PDI-P cadres also celebrated Megawati's 77th birthday in their respective places. The form of celebration, among others, cut the cone and distributed food to the community, held various cultural activities, and planted trees as a form of reforestation.

"In some areas, reforestation is carried out as part of caring for the motherland which is a daily tradition of Megawati, who is known to like plants and always takes care of the environment, including being the Chair of the Indonesian Botanical Gardens Foundation," said Hasto.

Not only that, PDIP cadres also sent greetings to Megawati via video recordings broadcast on the PDI-P Cultural Agency's YouTube channel.

Hasto also mentioned the example of Megawati. For Hasto, Megawati is a figure who has been proven to have maintained the mandate of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.

"By embedding his struggle, various intimidation that is currently happening, it becomes a fertilizer spirit to be stronger in realizing people's sovereignty as the highest law in determining leaders," said Hasto.

Megawati and Prabowo had formed a political partnership in the 2009 Presidential Election. The two of them then ran with Megawati as presidential candidates, while Prabowo as a vice presidential candidate faced Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Boediono and Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto.
