IPW Urges The Chief Of Police To Remove Dirkrimsusus, Polda Metro Jaya To Respond Like This

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya responded to the pressure from Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) to ask the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to remove the Director of Special Crimes (Dirkrimsus) of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Auliansyah Lubis.

IPW assesses that Kombes Auliansyah Lubis did not carry out the orders of the National Police Chief regarding the handling of the ITE Law. Because the head of the IPW Investigation Division Joseph Erwiantoro was summoned to undergo examination as a suspect in the ITE case.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said the case involving Joseph was related to defamation. In this case, he was accused of Article 27 of the ITE Law.

"Regarding the case of defamation, there was a prison around last year. There was a tweet on social media that felt the reporter was offended and then reported it," Yusri told reporters, Tuesday, February 23.

"Determination of the suspect in early February around the 5th. Then we will do the summons which today is the second summons," he continued.

Regarding the implementation of the SE Kapolri, Yusri said the suspect's determination against Josep had already been made before the issuance of the circular.

"It is true that it is linked to the circular letter from the Chief of Police, which was signed on February 19 and on February 22 (February) which has been entered into Polda Metro Jaya. So the summons for the investigation of the suspect to the person concerned has been carried out since 17 (February), before the police chief circular, "he arrested.

However, in handling this case investigators have implemented persuasive efforts. Whistleblower and Joseph will be encouraged to mediate.

"So the question is whether the reporter accepts or not? If not, the law will continue. But we try to do our best to mediate and not detain," he said.
