BMKG: The Majority Of Regions In Indonesia Are Tempted By Hujam

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the majority of major cities in Indonesia will rain this week. The official BMKG website, on Sunday, noted that light rain would cover a number of areas such as Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, Serang, Mataung, Mataram, Kupang, Ternate, Kendari, Manokwari, and Jayapura. Then rain with moderate intensity is predicted to occur in Yogyakarta, Makassar, and Manado with air temperatures ranging from 23-31 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, rain with lightning is predicted to occur in Banjarmasin City.

As for a number of areas such as Tanjung Pinang, Bengkulu, Bandar Lampung, Semarang, Denpasar, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, Gorontalo, and Mamuju are predicted to be covered by clouds, as well as Ambon with thicker clouds. While sunny cloudy weather is predicted in areas such as Banda Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, Jambi, DKI Jakarta, Surabaya, Pontianak, and Tarakan.

Previously, BMKG said Tropical Cyclone Orchids were moving away from Indonesian territory and had been outside the Tropical Cyclone Warning Center (TCWC) area of Jakarta. "The Tropical Cyclone Orchid is away from Indonesian territory and has been outside the TCWC Jakarta responsibility area," said BMKG Deputy Meteorology Guswanto (20/1). He said Tropical Cyclone Orchids were observed to be in the southwest Indian Ocean of Bengkulu, with a maximum wind speed of 50 knots and a minimum air pressure of 990 hPa moving to the west-northwest direction. He added that the intensity of the tropical cyclone is expected to begin to weaken from category two to category one within the next 24 hours. Guswanto said the impact of Tropical Cyclone Orchid triggered high sea waves in the range of 1.25-2.5 meters in the western Indian Ocean of Sumatra, western Sumatra waters, the western Sunda Strait and south, southern waters of Banten to Central Java, and the southern Indian Ocean of Banten to Central Java.
