Cikarang Is Considered As The Prima Donna Of Property Investment During The Pandemic

JAKARTA - The COVID-19 pandemic is still hitting Indonesia, it has been almost a year since the first case was discovered. Various policies have been carried out by the government to prevent an increase in cases, one of which is by limiting activities. This has made lifestyle changes, which were initially done face-to-face or offline now online.

In the midst of this uncertainty, investing is an important thing to do. One of them, investing in the form of a house.

Because, currently, all activities are carried out from home, including teaching and learning, and working. The eastern corridor area of Jakarta is one location that can be an option for investment.

Expert Staff of the Ministry of Public Works and Human Settlements (PUPR) for Natural Resources, Lucky Harry Korah, said that currently, the government is focusing on development in the East Jakarta Corridor. Besides having good access, the development of this area is also carried out in a sustainable manner.

"The eastern corridor area has indeed had a fairly rapid growth rate in the last decade. Moreover, the development of this area is also coupled with very adequate infrastructure support", he said, in a virtual press conference, Tuesday, February 23.

Lucky explained that one of the areas that support the new lifestyle of the community today is the East Jakarta Corridor, where all great infrastructure is being deployed in this area. Cikarang, which is one of the areas in the East Jakarta Corridor, is an area with very good development.

"Population growth in this area is very fast with various industries that support the economic resources in this area", he said.

Besides having good accessibility in terms of infrastructure, said Lucky, the eastern corridor area is even known as one of the largest industrial and residential areas in Southeast Asia.

In fact, he said, progress in the East Jakarta Corridor was supported by the government's commitment shown by several infrastructure projects such as the Jabodebek Light Rapid Transit (LRT) and the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train. Then, the Patimban Deep Seaport to the Kertajati airport has been operating since 2018.

According to Lucky, the eastern corridor area also has tremendous potential, which accounts for 47 percent of residential development in the Jabodetabek area, with 73 percent of them being the lower middle segment. This shows the contribution of this region to residential development.

Moreover, said Lucky, the presence of Presidential Decree No. 60 of 2020 concerning the spatial plan for the development of the Jabodetabek Bopunjur urban area has also become support for developers or developers to participate in developing this eastern corridor area.

"We see for ourselves that it is extraordinary that the private sector is growing very fast in this corridor. Because they have the basis for protection, it is the Presidential Decree. The private sector once again has protection", he explained.

He said that the complete infrastructure in the eastern corridor of Jakarta has great potential for developers to develop their projects, and is an opportunity for people to have affordable housing.

"The government acts more as a facilitator, regulator, he evaluates the program. Meanwhile, the private sector acts as the operator. So it is very important that this positive synergy has a tremendous impact on the national economy, it will also be felt for the people", he said.

On the same occasion, influencer and entrepreneur, Stella Natalia, said that the eastern corridor area is an option as a suitable residential area to support the people's lifestyle during the pandemic.

Furthermore, he explained, the reason was that during the pandemic, almost 90 percent of activities were carried out at home. For this reason, the community needs to choose a comfortable house, supports connectivity and is full of supporting facilities around it.

"The types of houses that are suitable for the current pandemic are those that are comfortable to work with, have good air circulation, open space so they look more spacious, and have a good internet network", said Stella.
