Menpan RB Asks KASN To Follow Up Reports Of Alleged Violations Of ASN During The 2024 General Election

JAKARTA - Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) Abdullah Azwar Anas asked the State Civil Apparatus Commission (KASN) to follow up on all reports related to violations of ASN neutrality during the 2024 General Election. "We have asked KASN to follow up on all reports related to ASN neutrality," said Azwar Anas at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Antara, Friday, January 19. Azwar reminded again that the public can report ASN who are suspected of violating the rules of neutrality because they support one of the candidate pairs in the 2024 presidential election. From the report, KASN then provided recommendations and classified the type of violation, from mild to severe categories, with administrative sanctions to dismissal or criminal sanctions. However, Azwar said the report or complaint could not be fully verified. "We will verify the complaints, but once again, complaints can be verified, some are not in accordance with what was reported," he explained. According to Azwar, the number of complaints or reports of violations of ASN neutrality in the 2024 General Election will be much more because it coincides with the selection of legislative members. The Kemenpan RB has also coordinated with the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) to verify violations related to ASN neutrality. Meanwhile, the Chairman of KASN Agus Pramusinto predicts that the number of violations of ASN neutrality in the 2024 General Election will reach 10,000 cases, an increase of five times compared to violations in the 2020 Pilkada. In the 2020 Pilkada, KASN recorded violations of ASN neutrality in 270 regions reaching 2,304 cases. The number of ASN violations is predicted to increase sharply by five times, considering that the 2024 election will take place in 548 regions with various electoral levels, starting from the election of district DPRD members, city DPRD, DPR RI, DPD RI, to the president and vice president.

The 2024 election campaign period will take place from 28 November 2023 to 10 February. After the campaign period, there was a calm period on 11-13 February. Then, the voting schedule took place simultaneously on February 14, 2024.
