JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesia Carbon Trade Association (IDCTA), Riza Suarga, encourages the determination of the price of a carbon tax not to be too cheap or high. This was conveyed by Riza as well as a warning to the Prabowo-Gibran pair for the succession of Asta Cita. "If the carbon tax is carried out and applied cheaply, as stated by the Ministry of Finance, it is only 2 dollars or Rp. 30,000, it is clearly not interesting," said Riza at the TKN Media Center, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Thursday, January 18. He explained that the tariffs expressed by the Ministry of Finance were much smaller than the initial proposal of Rp75,000, so that at a rate of Rp. 30,000, Indonesia became the country with the lowest carbon tax rate in the world. Meanwhile, if the government implements a high carbon tax such as in Western countries which reaches US$40, inflation will occur. "So indeed this must have a more detailed study. I might be able to understand why the carbon tax was postponed because that was the reason," explained Riza. It is known that the postponement of the carbon tax mandated in Law Number 7 of 2021 concerning Tax Harmonization has been postponed until 2025. For this reason, he hopes that the Prabowo candidate pair Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka through a vision and mission summarized in Asta Cita, can accelerate the implementation of trade and carbon taxes in Indonesia. "The Presidential Decree is trying to monitor it. But on the other hand, it seems a bit slow. Maybe later Asta Cita will speed things up," said Riza. TKN Digital Media Coordinator Prabowo-Gibran Noudhy Valdryno added that the carbon industry program as one of Asta Cita is a sustainable development for Indonesia's 2045 gold. Asta Cita itself is the promise of the Prabowo-Gibran pair who have eight missions to go to Indonesia Gold 2045, where in one of its missions is to continue the sterilization and industrialization to increase domestic added value. Meanwhile, Carbon Climate and Sustainability Expert TKN Prabowo-Gibran Glory Sihombing added that the market and carbon sales already have their market in Indonesia.

"Currently, the trade has been carried out, so after the trade is implemented, the next one should be a carbon tax. The existing market, the trade is already running and the last one is only a carbon tax," added Glory.
