Mount Lewotobi's Incandescent Lava Flow Launches 3.5 Kilometers

The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) recorded the results of visual monitoring of incandescent lava flows northeast of 3.5 kilometers from the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki, in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

In a report by the Mount Lewotobi Male Observation Post Officer, Bobyson Lamanepa, early Thursday, avalanches were observed with a sliding distance of 1,000 to 1,500 meters leading north and northeast during the observation period Wednesday (17/1) at 18.00 WITA to 24.00 WITA.

The Geological Agency has expanded the recommended distance of Mount Lewotobi Laki, located in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, to avoid the threat of eruption hazards in the form of volcanic ash and incandescent lava.

"People do not carry out any activities within a radius of 5 kilometers from the eruption center and sectoral 6 kilometers north to northeastern are asked to evacuate," said Geological Agency Acting Officer Muhammad Wafid.

Previously, the Geological Agency recommended the public not to carry out activities within a radius of 4 kilometers from the eruption center and sectoral 5 kilometers to the northwest to the north and northeast.

Wafid asked the public to calm down and follow the direction of the local government and not to believe the unclear sources of the issues.
