Prison Employee Involved In Case 52 Kg Of Shabu, Kemenkumham Jambi Does Not Provide Legal Aid

JAMBI - Jambi Regional Office Head of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kakanwil Kemenkumham) M Adnan ensured that his party would not provide legal assistance to a Jambi Class II A prison employee regarding the case of possession of 52 kg of crystal methamphetamine.

"We confirm and guarantee that there will be no legal assistance to the Jambi Class IIA prison ASN who was arrested by the police for possession of tens of kilograms of crystal methamphetamine packages at his home," said M Adnan in Jambi as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 17.

Prison employees with the status of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) on behalf of M Afiful Akbar Maguna (27), who keeps or has 52 kg of crystal methamphetamine revealed by the Jambi Police a few days ago.

The Jambi Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office handed over the legal process carried out by the police in accordance with applicable regulations.

Regarding Afiful Akbar Maguna's status as an ASN at the Jambi Class IIA Prison, he said that in the future his party would take firm action in accordance with applicable regulations.

"Dismissal or other actions may be carried out that may be heavier than that and it is certain that there will be no light punishment from the above," he said.

Adnan has also ordered the Head of the Correctional Division and the Head of the Jambi Class II A Prison to investigate the possible involvement of unscrupulous employees and other inmates because the arrests were made at the house concerned.

However, the Jambi Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights does not remain silent and his party will continue to seek further information on the involvement of other assisted employees or residents in the case.

"If it does happen later and it is proven that it exists, of course we will also take firm action," said Adnan again.

Previously, an ASN Jambi Class II A Correctional Institution (Lapas) Afifful Akbar Maguna, a resident of Simpang IV Sipin Village, Telanaipura District, Jambi City, was threatened with the death penalty for being involved in the misuse of 52.5.4 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Jambi Police Chief Kombes Eko Wahyudi in his statement said that apart from Afiful Akbar Maguna, there was also one other suspect who was also arrested by members of the Narcotics Unit of the Police.

"They are an international network from Malaysia, which includes the illicit goods by sea through Riau, then taken to Jambi. The plan is to be circulated on the island of Java, but we managed to fail," said Kombes Eko Wahyudi.

For their actions, the two suspects were subject to Article 114 paragraph 2 or 112 paragraph 2 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of death penalty or life imprisonment.
