Suspect Threatened To Shoot Anies While Live TikTok Undetained, East Java Police: Only Spontaneity Motive

SURABAYA - East Java Police called the motive for threatening the shooting of presidential candidate Anies Baswedan as a spontaneity.

Suspect AWK (230 owner of the TikTok social media account @calonistri71600, a resident of Probolinggo Regency was not arrested.

"So the suspect AWK after seeing the TikTok account, then commented in a threatening tone to one of the candidate pairs, so it was spontaneous," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Kombes Dirmanto, in Surabaya, Wednesday, January 17.

This threat began when the perpetrator AWK saw the account of one of the TikTok accounts. AWK, who used a photo profile of Prabowo Subianto's presidential candidate number 2 also asked for a long sentence if he shot Anies Baswedan.

"How many years have you been in prison, Mr. Anies?"

AWK was arrested in Jember, East Java on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Currently, the case is still in the process of handling the East Java Police Cyber Team.

"Then investigators have also examined witnesses and experts, there are three witnesses and two experts, namely ITE experts and linguists," he said.

As a result of his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 29 of Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) which contained the rules of each person intentionally and without the right to send electronic information and/or electronic documents containing threats of violence or intimidation addressed personally.

"In accordance with Article 21 Paragraph 4 letter a of the Criminal Procedure Code, of course, the threat of punishment that can be detained is five years or more, subjective requirements rather than a detention. But the process is still ongoing, because it cannot be contained, the process is still ongoing," he concluded.
