Police Name Head Of JPL Bulog Maluku Suspect Of Persecution Of Journalists

AMBON - Police have named the Head of PT Jasa Prima Logistics Bulog (JPLB) OG Maluku-North Maluku branch, Johar Isnain as a suspect in the persecution of journalists from the Ambon Tribune, General Louis.

The determination of the suspect was carried out after the Baguala Police investigators obtained two strong evidences, namely in the form of witness statements, and a letter (visum).

"We have named the person concerned (Johar Isnain) as a suspect in the case of assaulting Tribun Ambon journalist, General Louis. Because there are two pieces of evidence, namely the testimony of the victim, witnesses and evidence of a post-mortem," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Baguala Police, Aipda Marthin, in Ambon as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 16.

The suspect, who has been detained since January 14, is charged with Article 351 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

"While still with article 351 paragraph 1. For article 18 of Law number 40 of 1999 concerning the press, we will coordinate again with the Ambon state prosecutor and the perpetrators have also admitted all their actions," he explained.

Previously, the beating that led to the beating of journalist Tribun Ambon occurred when coverage of the robbery of a truck loaded with bulog rice in Haloeng, Ambon City, on Saturday (13/1).

The alleged abuse occurred on the highway which is approximately 100 meters from the Bulog Rice Warehouse (GBB) Halong owned by Perum Bulog Drive Maluku - North Maluku, Halong, Ambon.

Ambon's Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) condemned the abuse of journalists. It was emphasized that journalists carried out their duties professionally according to Article 2.

AJI emphasized that the act to prevent journalistic work was an unlawful act because it was against Law Number 40 of 1999 concerning the Press.
