3 Dead Tigers, Members Of The DPRD Affirm The Closure Of The Medan Zoo Is Not A Solution

MEDAN - Chairman of Commission III of the Medan City DPRD Afif Abdillah emphasized that closing the Medan Zoo or the Medan Zoo was not a proper choice even though three tigers died.

"We are very concerned about the current condition of Medan Zoo. But I emphasize, closure is not an option worth considering," Afif said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, January 15.

This legislator explains that the closure of the Medan Zoo is not at all an option that needs to be included in the list of solutions to be taken into consideration.

The condition of Medan Zoo is concerning because it is in the debt of feed and employees who have not been paid should make the Medan City Government work hard to maintain its existence.

Medan Zoo has a total of 76 units of cages with 255 animals consisting of 163 aves, 60 mammals and 32 reptiles on 10 hectares of a total area of 30 hectares.

"We deeply regret that the government has included the option to close Medan Zoo to the list of solutions. If the government gives up, what will happen to Medan Zoo," he said.

This politician offers the choice of collaborating with private companies, both local and national, to become a "son of every type of animal" as a result of the absence of investors managing this zoo.

"For example, company A is the 'guard father' of elephants, company B is a 'guard father' of deer, company C is a 'guard father' of tigers, and so on," said Afif.

Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution last week was considering several options because he was unable to buy animal feed and pay employee salaries, including the option to close the Medan Zoo.

"There are several options for us to make, of course we have to look at all aspects. The option is opened, closed, we have the relocation option, of course, the options that we have listed (listed)," he said.
