JAMBI - Jambi Harbormaster Head and Port Authority (KSOP) Prihartanta Eka Budi Jatmika confirmed that a coal carrier crossing the Batanghari River grazed or crashed into a port owned by PT Pelindo Regional 2 Jambi.

"It is true that it happened at around 06.00 WIB where a coal transport ship passed in front of Pelindo's port and hit the port barrier, but there was no significant damage in the incident," said Prihartanta Eka Budi Jatmika as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 15.

However, the certainty and chronology of the incident are still being handled by the Jambi KSOP staff and further developments will be informed.

"I have not received an official report on the name of the coal-carrying ship company that crashed into Pelindo's port, because I was on duty in Jakarta, but the incident was true," said Prihartanta Eka Budi Jatmika.

Meanwhile, based on the 2 minutes 29 second video, it appears that the tugboat named Hutama Mandiri 03 towed a barge or a coal-laden ship lost control due to the swift current of the Batanghari river and installed it into the port pole belonging to Pelindo Regional 2 Jambi.

Meanwhile, Public Relations of Pelindo Regional 2 Jambi Ahmad Riza when confirmed also confirmed that their port pole was hit by a coal-carrying ship in the morning.

"For that incident, we have dispatched a technical team to handle the case and in the meantime there has been no significant damage in the incident and the case has also been handed over to KSOP Jambi," he said.

Meanwhile, the Jambi Police Dirpolair Kombes Pol Tri Waluyo when confirmed the incident was still waiting for an official report and would immediately check the incident first.

Since the Batanghari Jambi River route was used as a coal transportation route from various regions to ports, several times the ship crashed into a bridge-propelled pole in Jambi along the river and the last time it happened was a barge carrying a coal sank in the Muarojambi area.

The use of the river as a coal transportation route must also be considered by all parties so that rivers and those around them are not damaged due to coal transportation activities by ship.
