JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo followed up on criticism submitted by artist Sujiwo Tejo regarding the blue rotator lights on police service vehicles that interfere with the vision of other vehicle users when traffic on the highway.

The four-star police general immediately issued a Telegram Letter (ST) containing orders to the ranks of the National Police Traffic Director to take steps, one of which closed the back of the official vehicle rotator light using a 20 percent film glass.

"This instruction is addressed to all levels of the National Police for all official vehicles," said Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the National Police Public Relations Division Brigadier General Pol. Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Monday 15 January.

The National Police Chief's instructions were contained in the telegram letter Number 2868/XII/REN.2.2/2023 dated December 28, 2023, which was signed by the Head of Korlantas (Kakorlantas) Polri Inspector General Pol. Aan Suhanan on behalf of the National Police Chief.

The telegram letter was published a day after Sujiwo Tejo delivered his criticism before the National Police Chief at the 2023 Year-End Release (RAT) at the National Police Headquarters.

In the telegram letter, it was stated that this instruction was based on the results of the analysis and evaluation of security, safety, order and smooth traffic (Kamseltibcarlantas) conducted by Korlantas Polri.

That, the beam of the rotator light at the back of the official vehicle causes impaired vision and concentration of other motorists who have the potential for traffic accidents.

Therefore, the National Police Chief instructed all ranks using authorized official vehicles to cover the back with a 20 percent film glass.

Then, in carrying out patrol duties, and security at the location of traffic accidents, divert the flow to use rotator lights.

"While carrying out the escort task so that the back blue rotator light is turned off," wrote the telegram letter of the National Police Chief.

In addition, the National Police Chief also asked for internal supervision and supervision to be carried out in stages in carrying out the instructions. As well as reporting the results of the activities to the Korlantas Polri and Dirgakkum Korlantas Polri.

Previously, Sujiwo Tejo, at RAT 2023, Wednesday (27/12), conveyed a number of criticisms related to the police to the National Police Chief, including asking for SIM tests to be tightened, because many motorists do not know traffic rules that have the potential for traffic accidents.

The senior artist also criticized the use of blue rotator lights that made motorist glares especially on toll roads.

Despite criticizing, Sujiwo Tejo also supports the National Police to carry out their duties and functions to provide a sense of security to all Indonesian people by carrying out patrols, traveling around in a sense of security and comfort for other people.

"For example, could it be that the blue light was changed green, not because of the PKB. Because if (it) hits the eye, sir, if the toll road is overtaken by the car, it's in the eyes (of the sun). Try to be tested by an eye expert," said Sujiwo.
