TikTok Account Owner Threatens Temnbak Anies Arrested In Jember, Still Intensively Examined

JAKARTA - The police arrested a man with the initials AWK for threatening to shoot the number one presidential candidate, Anies Baswedan. This 23-year-old man was arrested in the Jember area, East Java.

Anies is known to have received the threat of shooting on social media TikTok from the @calonistri71600 account, 'How many years in prison, Mr. Anies?'.

"The perpetrator who has tweeted on social media about the threat of shooting one of the candidate pairs was arrested this morning based on information from the public and cooperation from the Cyber Crime Directorate of the National Police and the East Java Police Cyber Unit," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Sandi Nugroho at a press conference in Jakarta, Saturday, January 13.

"Investigation is still being carried out but AWK admits that he wrote the threat," said Sandi. And currently being processed further by a joint team from the Cyber Crime Directorate of the National Police and the East Java Police," he said.

Sandi hopes that this incident will not happen again because all parties must maintain order and security ahead of the 2024 General Election. "We hope and urge all of us to be able to restrain ourselves," he concluded.
