Batam City Government Facilitates Internet At 46 Polling Stations In The Blankspot Zone

JAKARTA - The Batam City Government Communication and Information Service (Diskominfo), Riau Islands facilitates internet availability and internet network anticipatory measures at 46 polling stations in buffer island areas that fall into the blankspot zone category.

Batam City Diskominfo Head Rudi Panjaitan in Batam, Saturday said that the areas included in the category are Galang, Behind Padang, and Bulang Districts, as well as several sub-districts in Nongsa District.

He conveyed that Batam's Diskominfo ensured the readiness of the Internet Service Provider (ISP) in sub-districts and sub-districts in the buffer island area.

"It is hoped that with the facilities provided, technical matters that require special handling can be taken anticipatory steps in accordance with the relevant agencies," Rudi said quoting Antara.

He explained this as a goal to make all stages of holding the 2024 General Election successful, including in ensuring the availability of the internet network and other facilities needed by the organizers.

Internet network services play an important role in the sustainability of the 2024 General Election stage, even the central government has provided 40 internet network points in the form of hotspots to support the implementation of the 2024 General Election.

"The solution to the internet's reach for democratic parties/elections is very urgent, so it must be addressed immediately for the availability of election supporting facilities," he said.

Previously reported, the Riau Islands Province KPU (Kepri) said that at least 99 polling stations (TPS) were in the internet signal blankspot zone.

Chairman of the Riau Islands Provincial KPU (Kepri) Indrawan Susilo Prabowoadi in Batam, Friday (12/1) said that his party had coordinated with the local Diskominfo so that they could discuss this with providers to minimize the blankspot TPS.

"In addition, if it is also until the 'H' day, for example, there is also no internet, we have also prepared several things that must be anticipated, because then the internet is needed in order to be able to run the voice recapitulation information system," said Indrawan.
