Entering The Rainy Season, The Number Of Hotspots In East Kalimantan Drops Drastically

JAKARTA - Hotspots in East Kalimantan Province (caltim) have dropped dramatically. The reason is, from 95 points on Thursday, January 11 to 8 hotspots on Friday, January 12.

"A total of eight hotspots were monitored throughout last Friday from 01.00 to 24.00 WITA," said Balikpapan Station Coordinator for Data and Information at Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan, Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Diyan Novrida in Balikpapan, Saturday.

Information on the distribution of hotspots has also been conveyed to related parties, including the provincial and district levels Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), so that further action can be taken.

There was a decrease in the number of hotspots due to several reasons, including the rainfall that could kill forest and land fires (karhutla), then because of public awareness that they did not burn while managing land.

He explained that currently it is indeed the rainy season, but there are still a number of areas where there is no rain in a few days that can cause leaves and branches in the forest or dry land, so it is flammable.

Meanwhile, the day before, 95 hotspots were detected, spread across three districts, namely East Kutai (78), Kutai Kartanegara (14), and Berau Regency (3) hotspots with an average of medium confidence level.

Meanwhile, eight hotspots were detected yesterday, he said, were also spread across three districts, namely West Kutai Regency (1), East Kutai (5), and Kutai Kartanegara Regency (2) points.

The details are that one point in West Kutai is in Nyuatan District, five points in East Kutai are spread over three sub-districts, namely Bengalon Dua District, Kaubun Dua, and Kongbeng District one point.

"The two points in Kutai Kartanegara are in two sub-districts, namely Muara Badak and Samboja. The eight hotspots detected yesterday all have a middle level of trust," said Diyan.
