JAKARTA Schneider Electric held Innovation Day Jakarta 2024 on Thursday, November 7 last. At the event, Schneider emphasized her commitment to supporting innovation and sustainability.

This year's Innovation Day carries the theme Driving Sustainable Growth through Innovative Building and Industrial Solutions. A number of experts and stakeholders are here to share insights and discuss challenges in achieving global sustainability targets.

According to Schneider, sustainability is a target that must be achieved together because the industry has contributed greatly to the contribution of carbon dioxide emissions. Globally, the industry accounts for 30 percent of emissions consisting of 6 percent of direct emissions and 24 percent of indirect emissions.

Martin Setiawan, Cluster President Schneider Electric Indonesia and Timor Leste, said that the biggest challenge the company often faces in achieving sustainability is limited operational data.

As a result of this limited data, business people have difficulty mapping their problems and are taking strategic steps to start sustainability. Therefore, Schneider is determined to assist business people in achieving net emissions.

"Schneider Electric wants to help Indonesian business people to accelerate their sustainability action, especially in decarbonization efforts with integrated solutions ranging from consultations in mapping problems and making action plans," said Martin.

Fortunately, the awareness of business people in Indonesia to achieve sustainability is quite high. In Schneider Electric's annual survey entitled Green Impact Gap 2024, 98 percent of business leaders said they had set a sustainability target.

Meanwhile, 71 percent of business leaders feel that sustainability is a top priority. However, of the many leaders who are aware of the importance of sustainability, only 38 percent of companies plan to invest more than $1 million to increase their operational sustainability.

"We will continue to expand this reach (Innovation Day) to more cities in the coming years. We want to reach more business and community players to jointly accelerate real action towards sustainability," said Martin.
