Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs who is also the vice presidential candidate number 2, Mahfud Md received visits from a number of figures who are members of the Petition 100. They demanded impeachment of President Jokowi.

"They asked for Pak Jokowi's impeachment, asked for an election without Pak Jokowi. I said that if people heard about the impeachment, they conveyed it on several occasions, and that was the matter of political parties and the DPR, not the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs," said Mahfud at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs office in Central Jakarta, Tuesday, January 9.

Mahfud explained that the presidential impeachment process had to go through a plenary session with the requirement that two-thirds of the council members were present and agreed.

"If you agree, all of them meet the requirements, the Constitutional Court must bring them. It won't take a year if the situation is like this, it won't end until the election is over. That's a long time, there will be a preliminary session in the DPR," he said.

In addition to the impeachment charges, Petition 100 also submitted complaints regarding fraudulent practices in the 2024 General Election. They considered that there had been various frauds and hoped that the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs could take action.

However, Mahfud Md stated that reports related to elections were fully processed by the General Elections Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), and the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP).

"The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs is not an election organizer. Based on the Constitution made by civil society in order to be included in the Election Organizing Constitution, it is the KPU, which is an independent, permanent, independent institution. As a state institution, that's it, I can't enter there," said Mahfud.

"The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs has an election desk to monitor but not take action against any violations. This Decree only records and then coordinates so that if we give the election desk report at Polhukam later to Bawaslu, to the KPU, or to DKPP, go ahead," he added.

Petition 100 figures who met Mahfud Md included Faizal Assegaf, Marwan Batubara, Rahma Sarita, and Lieutenant General TNI Mar (Ret.) Suharto.
