DENPASAR - Chairman of the General Election Commission Hasyim Asy'ari said the KPU only takes care of reporting campaign funds for the 2024 election participants, not political party financial reports.

"The KPU takes care of campaign funds reports, if the party funds are not a matter for the KPU. So, if there is a difference between the party treasurers, it is not a matter for the KPU," said Hasyim in Denpasar, Bali, Thursday, January 11.

Hasyim said this was in response to the findings of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) regarding the flow of funds to the treasurer of 21 political parties.

"Well, whether the party treasurer's account is one of the sources of campaign funds, the PPATK fund flow is the one who knows. But what the KPU takes care of once again is campaign funds reports, including campaign funds accounts, not party financial reports or party accounts," continued the Chairman of the KPU.

It is a different story if the violation concerns the campaign fund report that must be deposited with the KPU. In this case, Hasyim firmly said that there are rules and limits that have been regulated, including sanctions that have been applied in previous elections.

"If he doesn't report campaign funds, at least he wins, the person concerned is not appointed as an elected candidate, so far there has been," he said.

However, this can only be studied by the organizers after the 2024 General Election is completed because there is a series in the campaign fund reporting process, as is currently still the initial report stage of campaign funds (LADK).

Hasyim explained the rules for obtaining political participant funds, such as differences in funds sourced from individual legislative candidates, funds from parties, and donations that have a nominal limit.

If the donation comes from corporations, the KPU sets a maximum nominal value of IDR 7.5 billion and from individuals IDR 2.5 billion. From the reports received, details will be seen and when they exceed the rules, they will be returned to the state treasury.

"Then it is forbidden to accept foreign donations. Foreign funds can come from foreign governments, foreign companies, or foreign nationals, it is prohibited. We can only confirm whether there is a violation or not later after being audited by the public accounting firm determined by the KPU," explained Hasyim.

Chairman of Bawaslu Rahmat Bagja who was present at the event said that the report from PPATK regarding the flow of funds to the treasurer of 21 political parties was actually initial information for his institution.

As the supervisor of the 2024 General Election, Bawaslu will coordinate with the police, prosecutors, and PPATK regarding the report on the findings for classification, whether this is a criminal act.

"PPATK information is very confidential information, it cannot be used as evidence in court. Therefore, this is initial information to Bawaslu which of course we will process as well, then we can convey it to law enforcement friends later," he said as quoted by Antara.

Previously, PPATK Head Ivan Yustiavandana in Jakarta, Wednesday (10/1) conveyed the findings of the flow of funds to the treasurer of 21 political parties as many as 9,164 transactions throughout 2022 to 2023.

The nominal funds reached Rp195 billion. In fact, PPATK also received a report from the International Fund Transfer Instruction that 100 people from the list of permanent candidates for the 2024 General Election were involved and received funds worth Rp7.7 trillion from abroad.
