Makassar Walkot Danny Pomanto Prepares Perwali Ban Brong Exhaust

Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto is preparing a Mayor Regulation (Perwali) to anticipate the rampant use of Brong exhaust or noise that does not comply with automotive manufacturer standards.

"The Brong exhaust is very disturbing and many are complained about. When it comes to regulations, it is clear that it violates traffic laws," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 11.

The mayor, who is familiarly called Danny Pomanto, together with the Makassar Police Chief Kombes Mokhamad Ngajib, signed and declared "Makassar Can Tonji Without Brong Exhaust".

Danny said the Perwali related to Brong exhaust concerns public order and violates traffic laws.

"The issue of exhaust is immediately carried out with Perwali because it concerns public order. Not a few incidents also occur because the exhaust is Brong," he said.

Danny explained that Perwali and Perda could be included in the omnibus, especially the regional regulation which concerns the behavior of the people in the city of Makassar.

He admitted that he always conveyed to the ranks one of the basic weaknesses in Makassar, namely regarding transportation.

The mayor also admitted that after choosing the new Head of the Transportation Service, he hoped that transportation problems in Makassar City would be more considered, especially since Makassar is one of the metropolitan cities that has many problems, one of which is the traffic problem.

"We hope that the new Head of the Transportation Agency can build an ecosystem for signs in the halls so that people can learn, especially children," he explained.

Meanwhile, Kapolrestabes Makassar Kombes Mokhamad Ngajib said the Brong exhaust monument or icon was temporarily made near the Flyover Police Post.

Uniquely, the construction of the monument used materials from Brong exhaust which were confiscated from motorists after direct action (ticketing) was taken.

"The momentum is made of exhaust that we confiscated. So there are as many as 5,300 exhausts," said Ngajib.
