The Joint Team Evacuates Residents From The Radius Of 4.5 Kilometers Of Mount Marapi

PADANG - Commander of Korem (Danrem) 032/Wirabraja Brigadier General (Brigjen) TNI Rayen Obersyl said the joint team again evacuated people who were still domiciled within a radius of 4.5 kilometers from the eruption center (Verbeek Luxury). "Yesterday we received information that there are still 13 houses in the Agam area sector, and today we will evacuate them to their relatives' houses," said Danrem 032/Wirabraja Brigadier General Rayen Obersyl in Padang, Antara, Thursday, January 11. Danrem said all logistical needs of the evacuated residents would be borne by the local government. Earlier on Wednesday, January 10, the joint team first evacuated 24 families who were within a radius of 4.5 kilometers. "The residents who were evacuated were not in the place we prepared, but in the house of their brothers and sisters. But their needs have been guaranteed by the local government," said the one-star general. Danrem conveyed that based on information from the Center for Volcanology and Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) if there was still an increase in the status of Mount Marapi from level three (standby) to level IV (awas), the area that would be sterilized would be 7.5 kilometers. This means that there will be six villages or villages that are directly affected and must be evacuated to areas that are much safer. Whether or not all residents should be moved to prevent casualties if something unexpected happens. Finally, the Chief of Staff of Korem (Kasrem) 042/Garuda Putih (2020-2021) has provided input to the local regional disaster management agency (BPBD) to conduct a kind of training for residents in responding to disasters.
