SIDOARJO - The government has started revitalizing the Gelora Delta Sidoarjo Stadium (GDS) into a FIFA standard stadium (International Football Federation) at the end of January 2024.
Sidoarjo Regent Ahmad Muhdlor Ali expressed his pride in the revitalization of Gelora Delta Sidoarjo with FIFA standards by the Ministry of PUPR.
"The Sidoarjo Regency Youth, Sports and Tourism Office (Disporapar) has handed over the field and socialized to the East Java Province I Settlement Work Unit for Settlement Infrastructure," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 10.
He said this revitalization was a positive step to improve sports facilities in Sidoarjo Regency, as well as create stadiums that meet international standards.
"This renovation is expected to advance Kota Delta football, and also increase Sidoarjo's appeal as the host of various sporting events nationally and internationally," he said.
The regent, who is familiarly called Gus Muhdlor, also said that the Sidoarjo Regency Government's commitment was to beautify Gelora Delta Sidoarjo's face.
"The district government continues to improve to make the Sidoarjo GOR area more beautiful, including revitalizing sidewalks, construction of drainage, and reforestation around the Sidoarjo Sports Hall area," he said.
