Police Investigate Explosion At Undip Semarang Gas Station

SEMARANG - Police investigated the explosion that caused a fire at the Undip gas station, Tembalang, Semarang City, Central Java.

Tembalang Police Chief Kompol Wahdah Maulidiawati said the investigation involved the Central Java Regional Police Forensic Laboratory and the Semarang Police Inafis.

According to him, there were no casualties in the explosion at a number of fuel filling dispensers at the gas station.

"The cause of the explosion and fire is still being investigated," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 10.

Police lines have been installed around the scene during the investigation.

Meanwhile, from the information gathered, the explosion allegedly started at the back of the gas station where an electric panel and generator exploded.

As a result, a number of dispensers filling fuel at the gas station exploded.

Gas station officers tried to extinguish the fire that burned the dispenser using a light fire extinguisher.

Firefighters came to extinguish the fire moments later.

The police said the losses due to the incident reached around Rp. 300 million.
