Megawati's Warning To The Rulers: Elections Are Not A Tool To Longen Power!

Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri emphasized that the people are the owner of the highest sovereignty in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu). However, he saw that there was power in this five-year contestation.

This was conveyed in his political speech during the 51st Anniversary of the PDIP with the theme 'Satyameva Jayate, Truth Must Win'. Megawati at that time reminded the importance of morals and political ethics.

"The election is not an elite political tool to perpetuate power at all costs. In elections, general elections, there are morals and ethics that must be upheld," Megawati said in her speech, Wednesday, January 10.

"That power is not lasting, what lasts above, power will stop whatever position it is," continued the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Megawati also mentioned the people who were intimidated in the 2024 presidential election. However, she still believes that many will still cast their voices because of conscience.

Megawati hopes that the TNI, Polri, and state civil servants (ASN) must be neutral. Do not let the people become victims of people who do not carry out their obligations properly.

"Emangnya rakyat mau kamu pentungin haaahhh, penominasi boleh kamu tembak, tapi kalau rakyat no, no, no. Ingat kamu, ini saya masukan message saya dan pasti harus tahu siapa yang melakukan hal-hal seperti itu (intimidasi, red)," ujar Megawati.

"This is an independent and sovereign country! No one feels powerful, the power is in the hands of the people," he concluded.
