Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said social assistance (bansos) from the government was given to all groups of people, without any obligation for recipients to select certain candidates in the 2024 presidential election. "From above (the government) the social assistance is given to all groups without having to choose this, there is none," said Ma'ruf on the sidelines of a working visit in Yogyakarta, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, January 9. This was conveyed by Ma'ruf regarding the polemic over the provision of social assistance which was linked to the 2024 presidential election. According to Ma'ruf, social assistance is government assistance for the community that has been given before the election until now. "I don't have one (give social assistance) to tell me like this, right. Hopefully, others will convey social assistance like that too," he explained.

He said if there was an event of distributing social assistance that required the public to choose a specific candidate, then it could be reported.
