Gibran Promises To Follow Up Dog Slaughter In Solo Which Is In The Spotlight

DENPASAR - Candidate for vice president (cawapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka as well as Mayor of Surakarta responded to the case of sending hundreds of illegal dogs allegedly for custody to the Solo area, Central Java.

Gibran promised that his party would follow up on cases of dog slaughter or dog meat consumption in his area, Surakarta.

"Yes, we will follow up later," said Gibran, after attending the event, "Gibran Listened," in Kuta, Bali, Tuesday, January 9.

Gibran said that the stalls selling dog meat for consumption had decreased.

"What is clear is that the number of stalls has begun to decrease," he said.

Semarang Police cooperated with a number of stakeholders for further efforts to treat hundreds of dogs that had been rescued when they were about to be sent to the slaughterhouse.

"The legal issue of this case is no longer a problem. The second problem is related to the handling of around 200 dogs that have been rescued," said Semarang Police Chief Kombes Irwan Anwar as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 9.

According to him, the problem needs to be discussed so that the saved dogs will immediately get better services.

According to him, there is an option to invite people who will maintain it.

Another option, he said, is to prepare a certified place with certified nurses.

In handling this case, the police have named five suspects, one of whom ordered hundreds of dogs.

According to the perpetrators, the dogs were obtained from several points in Subang, West Java, and are planned to be sent to Sragen Regency.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Animal Hope Shelter Indonesia, Christian Joshua Pale, said that some of the dogs that had been rescued were being treated at the shelter on Jalan Kompol Maksum, Semarang City.
