Dismissing Anies' Assumption, Indonesia Is Only A Spectator, Airlangga: We Lead At The International Forum

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP Airlangga Hartarto dismissed the statement of presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan, who said that Indonesia's current position is only a spectator in the global arena.

He emphasized that Indonesia's position is always clear, especially in various international forums. He even mentioned that at the G20 Summit, the decisions made by the Republic of Indonesia were taken into consideration by countries in the world.

"Indonesia's G20 leadership is not just sitting and being silent and present, we are leading. The President came to Ukraine, the President came to the Soviet Union, to Russia, and we are respected," Airlangga told reporters at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, January 7.

"Indonesia not only colored, but determined the direction of foreign politics during the G20 Summit," he continued.

Airlangga said the decision was later adopted by APEC in a meeting in Bangkok, Thailand. In addition, he also gave an example when President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) showed Indonesia's role through APEC meetings in the United States.

Airlangga said that in the economic cooperation forum, Indonesia was invited to Washington DC so that it could hold a bilateral meeting with the United States.

"Indonesia's leadership is extraordinary. Indonesia is a southern country that is considered a leader of the global nation," explained Airlangga.
