Ketum PP Muhammadiyah Hopes This Third Candidate Debate To Intelligence The Nation

KULON PROGO - General Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive (PP) Haedar Nashir hopes that the debate of the three presidential candidates for the 2024 General Election, which will take place at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday night, can play a role in efforts to educate the life of the Indonesian nation.

In Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta, Sunday, Haedar Nashir said the presidential and vice-presidential debate was an opportunity to argue about the vision, mission, and basic things of the nation and state.

"For this reason, we appeal to all pairs of presidential candidates participating in the 2024 General Election to argue elegantly, prioritize the principles of noble ethics to argue, and also its substance regarding fundamental matters about the life and future of the nation," said Haedar Nashir. He did not expect the 2024 presidential and vice-presidential debate to only be a smart event. he also emphasized that if the debate was still like yesterday, it would reduce the value of the debate itself. "This will reduce the muruah of the presidential candidate debate," he said.

The third debate for the presidential candidate for the 2024 General Election, Sunday, will bring together three presidential candidates at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, starting at 19.00 WIB. The theme of the third debate includes defense, security, international relations, globalization, geopolitical and foreign politics. Previously, the first debate for the 2024 General Election presidential candidate was held at the Indonesian KPU Office, Jakarta, on December 12, 2023. Then, the debate between the two vice presidential candidates for the 2024 General Election was held at the JCC Senayan, Jakarta, on December 22, 2023.

The series of debates for presidential and vice-presidential candidates is still scheduled to take place three more times, namely on January 7, 2024, January 21, 2024, and February 4, 2024.

The KPU has determined the participants of the 2024 presidential election, namely the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD number 3.

The campaign period will take place from 28 November 2023 to 10 February 2024, while the voting schedule will be on 14 February 2024.
