PICA Hopes AMIN Couples Give Women More Strategic Roles

JAKARTA - The presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number one Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN) is expected to play a more strategic role for women, if they win the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections (Pilpres). The hope was conveyed by the General Chairperson of the National Movement of Insan Cita for AMIN (PICA), Zulkifli Ali. PICA continues to encourage women's involvement to increase from what is now, especially in the cabinet or the next government. "We don't want women to be just part of the jost, so they must have a more strategic role if the pair of candidates AMIN leads Indonesia later," Zulkifli said as quoted by ANTARA in Jakarta, Saturday, January 6. He explained, it is time for women's role to be further improved and become a determinant in making strategic policies that are not only in the cabinet, but in all aspects such as government and private agencies considering that many women have qualified roles to take a more significant role, so that they can determine decisions according to the level of policy or their respective work.

Furthermore, he explained, to encourage this goal, PICA always voiced her on various occasions such as seminars and talk shows, so that she could continue to be heard. Zulkifli is optimistic that AMIN is able to make this happen, because increasing the involvement of women is one of the priorities in the idea of change echoed by the pair of candidates.

The movement of Insan Cita for AMIN (PICA) is a cross-professional volunteer organization consisting of alumni of the Islamic Student Association (HMI) who agreed to support the idea of change echoed by AMIN for a just and prosperous Indonesia. The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia on Monday, November 13, 2023, determined three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates to be participants in the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections (Pilpres). The results of the draw and determination of the serial numbers for the 2024 presidential election participants on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md. serial number 3.KPU has also set a campaign period from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, then the voting schedule on February 14, 2024.
