Kudus Customs And Excise Failed To Send Illegal Cigarettes Through Goods Send Services

JAKARTA - The Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC) Type Madya Excise Kudus, Central Java, thwarted the delivery of illegal cigarettes through goods delivery services in Jepara with 196,000 illegal cigarettes as evidence.

"The illegal cigarette evidence was secured from one of the goods delivery service agents in Pelemkerep Village, Mayong District, Jepara Regency," said Head of the KPPBC Information Extension and Information Service Section of the Kudus Intermediate Type, Sandy Hendratmo, Sopan in Kudus, quoted from Antara, Saturday, January 6.

He said the disclosure of the case of illegal cigarette shipments through goods delivery services on January 3, 2024, began when conducting patrols starting in 2024 by targeting several goods delivery service agents in several areas of Jepara Regency.

From the results of the patrol, the team suspected several packages of shipments suspected of containing illegal cigarettes at one of the shipping service agents in Pelemkerep Village, Mayong District, Jepara Regency, so an inspection was carried out.

From the results of the examination of the package, the team found 117 packages containing 8,860 packs of SKM cigarettes with various brands without excise stamps and 940 packs of SKM cigarettes with other brands equipped with suspected fake excise stamps.

The value of the illegal cigarette evidence is estimated at IDR 270.48 million with a potential state loss of IDR 187.61 million.

"The eradication of illegal excisable goods must be encouraged. The enforcement of packages containing illegal cigarettes at the beginning of this year can be a provision for us to improve coordination with local governments in educating expedition service entrepreneurs to be more thorough and careful in receiving package shipments," he said.

Kudus Customs and Excise also invites cigarette businesses who have not been licensed to take care of their permits, because registration of the main number of excisable goods entrepreneurs (NPPBKC) is not charged at all.

Meanwhile, the levies collected are also managed by the state for the benefit of the wider community.

In addition, Kudus Customs and Excise also invites the public to participate in fighting the circulation of illegal cigarettes. By buying legal or excise cigarettes, because some of the income received by the state will be returned to the regions to support development in the regions.
