Crawling Up, PSI Electability Ahead Of The 2024 General Election Reaches 4.2 Percent

JAKARTA - The electability of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) continues to creep up, even reaching 4.2 percent ahead of the 2024 General Election. "This is the result of a survey from Pak Jokowi, the results of an internal survey, the survey results from the survey agency that conducts it every week. If there is an increase every week, it means that we are doing the right thing," said PSI DPP spokesman Irma Hutabarat as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, January 6.

The increase in electability was due to the appointment of President Joko Widodo's youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, to become the General Chair of the PSI DPP.

The inclusion of Kaesang Pangarep as party chairman provided a magnet for the community to support PSI.

"Of course, because our general chairman is Kaesang Pangarep who becomes a magnet, once he becomes the chairman of hundreds of thousands of people who login to PSI," said Irma.

Not only that, many communities and volunteers from Jokowi were invited to join PSI.

"So, so that people are not allergic to politics, let's go to any community, NGOs, NGOs, volunteers enter into party members so they can understand how the system in this country still provides enormous power to political parties," he said.

With so many Jokowi communities and volunteers entering PSI, it is certain that it will increase PSI's electoral system.

"Of course it increases electability because popularity is not in line with electability. There are popular people, not necessarily chosen. But, at PSI we calculate because electability increases. Lastly, it has been 4.2 percent," he said. With that result, he said, there is no doubt for party cadres to enter the parliament or the DPR RI. "The doubt that we do not enter parliament can be removed, there is no more doubt. We must go to Senayan. That is what we must maintain until the election is held on February 14, 2024," he said.

According to him, there are no special targets, but the important thing is that his party can pass the parliamentary threshold set at 4 percent in accordance with Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections.

"The important thing is to pass PT first so that the legislative candidates enter parliament, if the vote is 200 thousand but they can't get 4 percent, it's useless. So, we first secure the PT and then all the candidates 'fight'. It doesn't mean it's famous, but there's no need to work hard. It's not like that. You have to keep working hard," he said.

It is known that the 2024 Legislative Election was attended by 18 national political parties, namely, the National Awakening Party, Gerindra Party, PDI-P, Golkar Party, Nasdem Party, Labor Party, Indonesian Gelora Party, Prosperous Justice Party, Archipelago Awakening Party, Hanura Party, Garuda Party, National Mandate Party, Crescent Star Party, Democrat Party, Indonesian Solidarity Party, Perindo Party, United Development Party, and Ummat Party. In addition, the 2024 Legislative Election was also attended by six local political parties namely the Nanggroe Aceh Party, Atjeh Generation Party Beusaboh Tha'at and Taqwa, Darul Aceh Party, Aceh Party, Aceh Prosperous Justice Party, and the People's Independent Solidity Party Aceh. The 2024 Legislative Election is held simultaneously with the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections on February 14, 2024.
