NTT Driver Who Goes Viral Riceing 2 Foreigners In Bali While Todong Sajam Arrested

Police arrested a taxi driver Yanuarius Toebakae (20) who blackmailed a foreign national (WNA) in Bali while at gunpoint was arrested by the police.

The man from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) was arrested on Thursday, January 4 after escaping to East Java after he went viral.

"In this case, coordinating with the East Java Regional Police and it is known that the perpetrator is in the East Java area, checking his position in Sidoarjo. Then checking more deeply, it turns out that it is around the Juanda Airport area," said Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Pol Jansen Aviatus, Friday, January 5.

The arrests were made by the police in coordination with the authorities of Juanda Airport Surabaya. The perpetrator was arrested when he was about to leave the airport area.

The perpetrators extorted foreigners who boarded the taxi of the Ngurah Rai Bali transportation service cooperative from Seminyak, Badung.

"The driver was carrying passengers from foreign nationals. Then, the taxi used was a taxi that was suspected to be a blue taxi. That's what we checked, it turned out to be a taxi for the Bali Ngurah Rai transportation service cooperative.

Then, the search to the taxi office in Ngurah Rai, got the identity of the perpetrator. He is the driver of one of the offices and is registered as a taxi driver in Ngurah Rai," said Jansen.

The police have not explained in detail about extortion, including two foreign victims.

"We only look based on the video temporarily and there is no agreement on the payment in the video," he said.
