JAKARTA - Another heroic action was shown by members of the Police in helping residents affected by flooding in Jakarta, one of which was the Head of the Cilandak Police, Kompol Iskandarsyah, who carried a grandmother to be evacuated from her flooded house.
Reported by Antara, Sunday, February 21, the action of the Cilandak Metro Police Chief was recorded in a 40-second video that was shared by the South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Azis Andriansyah, Sunday.
When contacted, Kapolsek Metro Cilandak, Kompol Iskandarsyah said that he helped evacuate flood-affected residents on Jalan Mandala II Bawah, RT 08 / RW 02, Cilandak Village, Saturday, February 20.
According to Iskandarsyah, at that location, he found a grandmother who lived with a grandson who was 15 years old. When everyone was evacuated to the Babah Alun Desari Mosque, only the grandmother was left reluctant to be evacuated because her leg hurt.
"So everyone in the mother (grandmother) 's residence has been evacuated. The mother and her grandson live. She didn't want to be evacuated because her leg hurt," said Iskandar.
After being given an understanding and ensuring her safety, the grandmother was finally willing to be evacuated.
Iskandarsyah carried the grandmother because access to her house was in a narrow alley that could not be accessed by rubber boats.
"So I carried it from my house to the point of the evacuation boat in front of the alley, a distance of 25 meters," said Iskandar.
The sense of humanity that moved Iskandar to carry the grandmother was added to the obstacles in the field that had to evacuate residents immediately to feel safe.
"Most of my members are older than me, at the police station I am the youngest, I'm the one carrying it, sorry for the members," said Iskandar.
Forkompinda, Cilandak Subdistrict, previously made evacuation routes using rope to help residents who fled due to flooding.
In addition, electricity was cut off in anticipation of electric shocks that could endanger residents during floods.
"There are several areas where the electricity has not been turned off. To provide a sense of security, we urge residents to temporarily evacuate," said Iskandar.
Camat Cilandak, Mundari, said that there were 180 residents who fled their homes due to the flood.
There are 8 refugee camps spread across 4 RWs in the Cilandak Sub-district prepared by the sub-district, one of which is the Babah Alun Desari Mosque.
"This morning all the residents who fled were able to return home, the water had receded since the afternoon, the residents were cleaning up the remaining floods," said Mundari.
According to Mundari, the flood in the Cilandak area occurred due to high and long rainfall, then Krukut River could not accommodate it.
