The joint Search and Rescue Team (SAR) managed to save six crew members (ABK) of fishermen who drowned in the waters of South Lampung.

Head of the Bakauheni Basarnas SAR Post, Febri Yanda, said that his party together with the joint SAR Team of the TNI/Polri managed to evacuate the victims of the sinking ship safely in the waters of Sebuku Island, South Lampung Regency.

"Alhamdulillah, we managed to evacuate the six victims safely in the waters of Sebuku Island, and at 12.00 WIB the victims arrived at Kalianda Bomb Pier to be taken to Bob Bazar hospital," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 4.

Febri also said that his party immediately coordinated with the TNI/Polri as well as local fishermen to search, rescue, and pick up the victims.

"The fishermen come from South Lampung, for the current weather at sea, we have predicted that sometimes storms, big waves," he said.

One of the victims, Carimin (60) said that he and other crew members fought together to save themselves when the ship sank.

"Yes, when we drowned from 20.00 WIB, we were on the boat, then the ship sank, and we tied ourselves up with each other so we wouldn't look for each other and to fight to save," said Carimin.

The six victims of the sinking ship were Nahkoda Carimin (60), then ABK Iwan, Nawi, Putra, Ari, and Amir.
