Strong Wind Damaged 93 Houses In Gunungkidul

GUNUNGKIDUL - The Regional Disaster Management Agency of Gunungkidul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, noted that 93 residential houses suffered minor to severe damage due to strong winds that hit this area.

The Head of BPBD Gunungkidul Purwono said that based on data that entered the Gunungkidul BPBD Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) until 18.00 WIB, strong winds caused 93 houses to be lightly damaged to severe.

"Temporary officers are still collecting data in the field. There is a potential for further damage," said Purwono as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 3.

He said the strong winds also caused two PAUD/TK school buildings to be slightly damaged, one person was slightly injured, one person was moderately injured (left and right), four points of PLN's electricity network were disrupted and 14 tree points fell.

"The Rapid Response Team (TRC) moved to provide assistance and anticipate damage caused by strong winds," he said.

Purwono said several areas were affected by strong winds, namely Patuk, Gedangsari, Nglipar, Ngawen, Semin, Karangmojo, Wonosari, and Playen areas. Most of them are trees that collapse into houses or buildings.

"Most of the fallen trees and roof houses to power grids," he said.

Meanwhile, Panewu Patuk Martono Iman Santoso said strong winds caused the Tawang Market pavilion, Ngoro-oro, Patuk, Gunungkidul to collapse.

"This pavilion is for selling. Apart from those from the galvalum it is safe," he said.

He said that for this incident, one Azis trader, 58, was injured.

"The person concerned was rushed to Prambanan Hospital, Sleman, for more intensive treatment," he said.
