Semarang City Government Starts Unloading Nogososro Bridge Overcoming Floods

SEMARANG - Semarang City Government has begun dismantling the Nogososro Bridge in the Tlogosari Housing area of Semarang as one of the flood management efforts that occurred in the area.

Head of the Semarang City Public Works Agency (DPU), Suwarto, said the bridge construction was low, causing garbage to get stuck and block the water speed.

"Because the bridge is too low, if there is garbage that is swept away by the 'nangkol' river on the bridge," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 3.

Therefore, he said, the Nogososro Bridge began to be dismantled on Wednesday (3/1) to open the flow of water, and coordinated with the Transportation Service to divert traffic flow.

So far, the Nogososro Bridge has become an alternative access for people in the East Semarang, Genuk, and Pedurungan areas to the city center through the Tlogosari Housing Semarang.

"Today we are coordinating with the Department of Transportation to carry out traffic engineering so that residents who usually pass the bridge are diverted to other routes," he said.

Furthermore, he said, his party will immediately open the auction process for the construction of the Nogososro Bridge so that it can be used immediately by the community.

"For the renovation, we will immediately carry out the auction process, and immediately carry out the construction process," said Suwarto.

In addition to bridge construction, he said, there are actually other important problems for flood management, namely silting and narrowing the river under the Nogososro Bridge.

However, this sector was confirmed to be the authority of the Pemali Juwana River Basin Center (BBWS) so that his party could only coordinate so that dredging would be carried out immediately.

Previously, Semarang Mayor Hevearita Gunaryanti asked for an increase in the construction of the Nogososro Bridge at Tlogosari Housing to deal with flooding in Kaligawe, Tlogosari, and surrounding areas.

Ita, Hevearita's nickname, assesses the low structure and river below which are narrowing and shallower, hampering the flow of water, plus piles of clogging garbage.

From observations, the construction of the Nogososro Bridge has been partially dismantled so that road users have to queue past the bridge, which only leaves one lane.

The accumulation of vehicle flows was observed in both directions, especially from the direction of Tlogosari to Bugen, especially now is working hours.
