Bridge Impact In Kerinci Jambi Collapses Access To Broken Vehicles, Handling Wearing Steel Blocks

Tamiai Bridge in Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province has collapsed. As a result, traffic flow became disrupted.

Head of the Jambi National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) Ibnu Kurniawan said his party said the damage to the Tamiai bridge was due to the erosion of the oprith, causing the accident. "Our team is still in the field where vehicles cannot pass the bridge," he said in Jambi, Wednesday, January 3, confiscated by Antara.

Ibnu said that BPJN Jambi had deployed a team and heavy equipment for emergency handling of the Tamiai bridge using steel blocks.

He explained that for permanent handling, he was waiting for the design. Furthermore, it is hoped that the construction of this bridge can be allocated for the 2024 budget.

This emergency handling, he said, resulted from the cooperation between his party and the Kerinci Regency Government, Sungai Penuh City and Kerinci Merangin Hidro and the surrounding community who helped in dealing with the damage to the Tamiai Bridge.

Head of the National Road Implementation Satker (PJN) II Diaz Shodiq said that currently to unravel traffic congestion, small vehicles were diverted through the Tamiai Market ring road, by repairing the district bridge floor board and hoarding aggregates.

"We have started to cooperate with the private sector so that vehicles can be passed," he said.

The Tamiai Bridge is a bridge connecting the Bangko, Merangin - Kerinci road section which was built in 1975 with a bridge length of 10 meters. Until now, people have been asked to use other alternative routes to go to Kerinci.
