The news of the increase in civil servant salaries was conveyed by the staff of the Minister of Finance, Yustinus Prastowo, in his tweet on the X @prastow account. Although the rules regarding the increase in civil servant salaries have not been issued, the policy still applies as of January 2024.

"As previously stated by President Jokowi, the salary increase in 2024 for civil servants/members of the TNI/members of the National Police/Resignation and Veterans/PPK allowances is valid from January 1, 2024," wrote the X account @prastow.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani ensured that the full salary increase would start at the beginning of the year. State servants also need a year of provision for civil servants' salaries to increase as of January 2024.

The government officially provides an 8 percent increase in salaries for civil servants in 2024. The increase in salaries was followed by a 12 percent increase in retired salaries.

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani revealed that the full salary increase will be paid starting January 1, 2024. However, government regulations (PP) regarding the increase in ASN salaries are still in process.

Currently, the government is finalizing a number of regulations, starting from PP for the salaries of civil servants, TNI, Polri, and retirees as well as allowances for veterans. Meanwhile, the provisions for the salaries of Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) will be regulated according to the provisions through the Presidential Decree.

"Please remain calm. The rights have been paid since January 1, 2024, through a rapel mechanism as has been done," continued Prastowo.

Sri Mulyani said that the salary increase applies to central and regional / TNI / Polri AS well as retirees. He hopes that the regulation on the increase in civil servants' salaries will be completed soon.

In addition to providing an increase in salary, the government will also increase civil servants' food money to data package fees for 2024. This policy is contained in the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 49 of 2023 concerning Standard Input Fees for Fiscal Year 2024 which was set on April 28, 2023 and will take effect on May 3, 2023.

"The unit for the cost of food for employees of the state civil apparatus is a unit of costs used for the needs of employee food money which is calculated based on the number of working days," wrote PMK 49/2023.

In this provision, the largest food money obtained by the lowest level civil servants (class IV) is IDR 41,000 per day. If multiplied by a working period of 22 days, class IV civil servants receive a meal fee of IDR 902,000 per month.

The Ministry of Finance has prepared a budget of Rp52 trillion for additional salaries for civil servants of 8% as of January 2024 and retirees an increase of 12%. In more detail, the government has prepared an additional Rp17 trillion for pension salary, Rp9.4 trillion for an increase in the salary of central civil servants, and Rp25 trillion for regional civil servants.

As announced by President Jokowi in the Financial Note last August 16, 2023, the increase in civil servants salaries is intended to strengthen the effectiveness of bureaucratic transformation and reform so that it is more efficient, competent, professional, and with integrity.

In addition, starting in 2024, civil servants will also get a period of promotion which is now 6 times a year. Previously, the promotion period was only carried out 2 times a year.

The provisions for promotion are regulated in the Regulation of the State Civil Service Agency (BKN) no. 4/2023 concerning the Periodization of the Promotion of Civil Servants. Later, the promotion period will increase 6 times during the year from February 1, April 1, June 1, August 1, October 1, and December 1.
