Snow Falls In Tabuk Saudi Arabia, Camel Looks Confused

JAKARTA - The Tabuk Mountains were covered with snow on Thursday morning after temperatures dropped drastically overnight. Videos of the storm and people celebrating the snowfall circulated widely on social media. Not only that, the clip of a camel covered in snow that looks confused before sunrise also spreads.

The snow covering the peaks of the mountains Alan, Jabal Al-Lawz, and Ad-Daher certainly made Tabuk residents excited.

“What an amazing sight, like something out of Europe. I'm not sure it's here," one Twitter user wrote.

Another one, Mohammed Al-Salem, expressed his sadness at not being able to enjoy the snowy mountain peaks, saying: “Oh, my heart. Tabuk won the best city award in winter. I miss experiencing such weather. "

Meanwhile, Sama Al-Kuwait wrote: “An extraordinary beauty in the middle of winter. We often go too far to look for snow, whereas the snow is already close to our house in Tabuk. I will definitely visit after the pandemic."

Every year, snowfall brings tourists from all over the Kingdom to Tabuk. However, amidst the confinement of the COVID-19 pandemic like now, visitors who came this year were far less than usual.

A spokesman for the Royal Embassy in Washington, Fahad Nazer, wrote: “Nobody can deny climate change, but it's also not uncommon in this region - Tabuk, in northwest Saudi Arabia - to experience snow. Contrary to popular perception, not every region of the Kingdom is warm all year round."

Meteorological experts say temperatures in the northern tip of the Kingdom are expected to drop further in the near future, and authorities have issued extreme weather warnings in a number of regions across Saudi Arabia, including Riyadh, Makkah, Medina, Eastern Province, Qassim, Salam, Tabuk, Northern Border regions, Al-Baha, Asir, Jazan, Jawf, and Najran.
