Sukabumi City Police Arrest 154 Drug Dealers Throughout 2023

The Sukabumi City Police Narcotics Investigation Unit throughout 2023 managed to arrest 154 drug dealers and drug abusers and limited hard drugs (OKT) in the City and District areas of Sukabumi, West Java.

"The 154 suspects came from 116 drug cases that were successfully uncovered by the Sukabumi City Police Narcotics Unit," said Sukabumi City Police Chief AKBP Ari Setyawan Wibowo when giving a year-end reflection statement in Sukabumi, quoted from Antara, Monday, January 1.

According to Ari, the majority of the suspects are both dealers and drug abusers who are of productive age, some of whom are still in their teens.

He stated that the high number of drug case disclosures throughout 2023 was the commitment of the Sukabumi City Police in eradicating drug trafficking and limited hard drugs.

The evidence confiscated from the perpetrators was 3.3 kg of marijuana, then 1.01 kg of crystal methamphetamine, 90 ecstasy pills, 1,498 psychotropic pills and 208,510 OKT items.

Some of the perpetrators have served prison terms and some are still undergoing trials and developments to uncover their networks and hunt down the suppliers of illicit goods to the suspects.

"In an effort to eradicate drugs, it is not always by disclosing cases or arrests, but we also provide education to the public, students and others about the dangers of drugs and inviting all levels of society to fight all forms of drug trafficking," he explained.

Ari said the modus operandi of the dealers or couriers is to distribute the illicit goods so that they can reach the customer's hands, starting from meeting directly or by pasting, where the dealer keeps the drug order somewhere and directs the customer via short message.

On the other hand, anticipating the circulation of liquor, the Sukabumi City Police Narcotics Unit also confiscated 8,170 bottles of factory liquor and 1,247 bottles of oplosan or a total of 9,417 bottles.
