A Number Of People In Bekasi Regency Ask For Compensation On The Impact Of The Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road Construction

JAKARTA - A number of residents in Burangkeng Village, Ciledug Village, Setu District, Bekasi Regency, West Java asked for compensation from the implementers of the Jakarta-Cikampek Selatan toll road project due to being affected by development.

"The project village flew to our homes, so it was pollution, and the contractor's promise to provide compensation money has not been kept," said local resident Listiawati after a demonstration in Cikarang, Sunday, December 31, as reported by Antara.

The resident, who was dominated by women, held a demonstration demanding the payment of compensation money that had been promised by the implementer of the activity considering that the construction project had been running for more than four months but there was no good faith from the contractor.

Listiawati said that due to the work on the Jakarta-Cikampek Selatan toll road construction project, many residents were affected, ranging from dust pollution to roads to slippery and damaged due to many land transport trucks passing to project sites every day.

"Residents here feel disturbed, first during the dry season, the dust is very dark, the roads are dirty and damaged, there are no improvements. Especially now that many rainy seasons are flooded because the waterways are closed," he said.

Then the residents also admitted that they were worried because the truck traffic made the soil around the village shaking. Residents were wary, the vibration of the land transport truck damaged their house.

"Well, what we are worried about is that, which is the responsibility of the implementing party for the construction of this toll road project," he said.

Another Ciledug resident, Syahrozi, said that the residents had felt this frustration since a few months ago. However, residents are still trying to be patient because they are promised to be given compensation for the disturbances caused.

Unfortunately, the promised compensation money has not been kept while residents continue to hope that the contractor's promise to implement the project will be realized soon.

"We are only demanding our rights here as citizens. We also want to be calm, they also definitely want to work calmly. This is a national project, we also don't want to get in the way," he said.
