TPN Ganjar Highlights KPU's Performance Regarding Voice Letters In Taipei, Bawaslu Urged To Take Strict Action

JAKARTA - The Deputy for Law for the National Winning Team (TPN) Ganjar-Mahfud, Todung Mulya Lubis, called sending ballots to Indonesian citizens in Taipei outside the schedule a very serious problem.

"We, the Deputy for Law, TPN Ganjar-Mahfud, are taking this issue seriously," said Todung, Friday, December 29.

Todung explained, the procurement and distribution of election logistics is a very crucial election stage and has a very high level of vulnerability.

"So it is natural for many to remind that the 'public disrupt' will be addressed to the Indonesian KPU as the institution most responsible for the distribution of election logistics as stipulated in Article 340 paragraph (1) and (2) of Law no. 7 of 2017 concerning Elections," he said.

Second, the negligence acknowledged by the KPU even though it has been clarified, but the impact if not exposed to the public will cause a fatal 'electoral fraud'. For TPN, this condition could benefit one of the candidate pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates.

"The Indonesian KPU should have given clear instructions to its staff abroad so that the distribution of election logistics has accurate timeliness, targets, and locations," he explained.

Todung highlighted the negligence of the repeated distribution of election logistics. This has the potential to spread into invalid voters.

"For this reason, we hope that this issue will become the concern and priority of the Indonesian KPU to prioritize its professionalism, because the issue of citizen voting rights is the most basic element of holding elections," continued Todung.

TPN Ganjar urged Bawaslu to follow up on the negligence of the KPU in the distribution of election logistics. TPN Deputy for Law Ganjar will continue to monitor the distribution of ballots in Indonesia and abroad.

"And if there are still many omissions that can lead to massive election irregularities, we will take legal action to bring this matter to the DKPP RI as well as other authorized institutions, such as the Constitutional Court (MK)," said Todung.

Regarding this issue. The KPU responded quickly by acknowledging the negligence of its staff abroad, namely PPLN Taipei. KPU admitted that it had sent 230,307 ballots to PPLN Taipei. However, the ballot should have been distributed to voters on January 2-15, 2024.

Meanwhile, for voters who use the postal method, the ballot sent by the KPU to PPLN Taipei amounted to 175,145 ballot sheets. Of these, 31.276 ballots were distributed by PPLN Taipei to voters.
