The Decision Of The KPK Council To Participate In The Reason President Jokowi Dismissed Firli Bahuri

JAKARTA - Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana said there were several things that underlie President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) dismissing Firli Bahuri as Chairman of the KPK through Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 129/P of 2023. Among them is the decision of the KPK Supervisory Board which was read out on Wednesday, December 27.

It is known that the KPK Council decided that Firli Bahuri violated three code of ethics. One of them, he was found guilty of meeting former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo and was given severe sanctions, namely being asked to resign from his position.

"(The Presidential Decree was signed based on, red) KPK Council Decision Number 03 / SUPERVISORY BOARD / ETIK / 12/2023 dated December 27, 2023," he said when confirmed by reporters, Friday, December 29.

Then, there are two other things that made Jokowi sign the Presidential Decree on Thursday night, December 28 yesterday. First, because Firli had submitted his resignation letter on Friday, December 22.

Next, President Jokowi refers to Article 32 of the KPK Law. "The dismissal of the KPK leadership is determined through the Presidential Decree," said Ari.

Previously reported, Firli Bahuri initially submitted a letter asking to be dismissed to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) through the Ministry of State Secretary (Kemensetneg). This submission was made after he was named by Polda Metro Jaya as a suspect in the alleged extortion or acceptance of gratuities from former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

However, the palace decided not to proceed or reject it. Because, in the rules of the KPK Law Number 19 of 2019 the dismissal cannot be done just because it is requested.

The KPK leadership, based on the law, can only be dismissed with various conditions. Including if you die or resign.

As for Firli's extortion case, the police have yet to arrest him. In fact, he has carried out examinations as a suspect twice.
