South Kalimantan Police Map 66 Highly Prone TPS Categories

BANJARMASIN - The South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda Kalsel) mapped 66 polling stations (TPS) into the vulnerable category in the 2024 General Election, based on their geographical presence to the condition of the community who have a history of conflict.

"For very vulnerable TPS, it is spread across 13 regencies/cities, with each factor triggering its vulnerability," said South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Winarto in Banjarmasin as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, December 28.

Each TPS is very vulnerable and will be guarded by two Polri personnel assisted by two linmas officers or according to the needs of the situation in the field.

Then there are also 508 vulnerable polling stations that are guarded by one Polri personnel per TPS assisted by linmas.

As for 13,010 polling stations that are less vulnerable, every single Polri personnel can monitor the security situation for several polling stations.

The Kapolda said that in principle all polling stations were the focus of security on voting day on February 14, 2024, but there was a priority scale to adjust the latest dynamics in the field.

Therefore, he reminded all members not to be careless, let alone underestimate the election security which determines the running of the government for the next five years.

The South Kalimantan Regional Police deployed two-thirds of the strength or around 6,177 personnel to be on standby for securing the 2024 General Election in the 2023-2024 Brata Operations for 222 days from October 19, 2023 to October 20, 2024.

The South Kalimantan KPU noted that a fixed voter list (DPT) of 3,025,220 people would exercise their voting rights at 13,584 at polling stations throughout South Kalimantan spread across two cities and 11 districts in 156 sub-districts and 2,016 sub-districts or villages.
