Iranian General Killed In Israeli Air Strike, IRGC Commander: Revenge With Elimination Of Zionist Regime

The commander of Iran's elite forces said revenge for the death of one of their generals as a result of the Israeli attack was the removal of the zionist regime, when the funeral ceremony attended by the country's entire elite was held on Thursday.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei led the funeral and prayer of the late Brigadier General Sayyed Razi Mousavi, a senior adviser to the Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) who died in what Iran said was an Israeli airstrike in Syria.

Leading the funeral prayers and reading Surah Al-Fatihah at the funeral, Imam Khamenei expressed his condolences to General Mousavi's family and his gratitude for the tireless jihad of the deceased, citing Khamenei.ir, Thursday, December 28.

Mousavi is one of the most experienced and effective defense front commanders, said IRGC Major General Hossein Salami.

"Our revenge for Sayyed Razi's martyrdom is none other than the overthrow of the Zionist regime," Major General Salami said in a televised funeral address.

"I hope, with God's permission, the great and honorable Palestinian fighters will soon remove the geographic and political names of these evil and fake regimes," he continued.

Brigadier General Sayyed Razi Mousavi was killed in an Israeli army air strike in the Zainabiyah area of Damascus, Syria on Monday evening local time.

An Israeli military spokesman declined to provide specific comments about Mousavi's death, but said it was taking whatever action it needed to defend the country.

Musavi's body was flown from Syria to the sacred city of Syiah Najaf in Iraq on Wednesday, before being brought to burial in Tehran, Iran.

It is known that since the outbreak of the war between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas group on October 7, Iranian-backed groups have launched operations against Israel.

Over the years, Israel has carried out attacks on what they described as targets linked to Iran in Syria, where Tehran's influence has developed since the country supported President Bashar al-Assad in a civil war that erupted in 2011.
