DKI Provincial Government Predicts New Year's Eve Celebration Garbage At Sudirman-Thamrin Capai 20 Tons

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government held a celebration of New Year's Eve 2024 along Jalan Jenderal Sudirman to Jalan MH Thamrin, and the National Monument area.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, predicts that waste production in celebrations of New Year's Eve will reach 20 tons.

"This year, I think it's quite crowded. Yes, if there are an additional 20 tons," Asep told reporters, Thursday, December 28.

Asep said the amount of waste produced from this year's turn will be greater than last year. Given, there will be 11 stages spread along Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin and celebrations in the Monas area.

"The implementation of the activities is also not just a stage, there is Jakarnaval of all kinds. So, I really imagine how much garbage will be," explained Asep.

Then, the DKI Provincial Government will also deploy 3,180 cleaners who will clean up all Jakarta areas, namely in 5 cities and 1 district, after New Year's Eve celebrations.

Of the number of personnel deployed, there are 500 personnel devoted to cleaning up the main locations for New Year's Eve celebrations, namely Sudirman-Thamrin and Monas.

Later, they will also remind the public not to forget to throw garbage in the trash that has been provided.

"Later, our PJLP officers will tour to educate residents to use a board sandwich that reminds residents to dispose of garbage in their place, not to litter," he explained.

Welcoming the new year 2024, quite a number of events will take place in Jakarta. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will hold a Young Night of Homecoming Jakarta Global on New Year's Eve 2024 with a series of events ranging from Jakarnaval, the music stage, video screening to drone shows.

The Mudi Young Night event was filled with six activities, namely Gemilang Silang Monas, Jakarnaval, Main Stage of HI Roundabout, Kirana Jakarta, Jalan MH Thamrin Stage and Jalan Jenderal Sudirman Stage.

In the first segment Gemilang Silang Monas will display video screenings, dancing fountains, entertainment and so on.

Then, to the southwest of Monas, the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI established a opening stage called Jakarnaval (Jakarta Karnival). This year's Jakarnaval theme is "Indonesian Legend Intellectual Property" (IP) based character or intellectual property-based character from the works of the nation's children.

Jakarnaval will also feature a variety of ornamental cars with attractive lights and decorations made by the nation's children such as Sri Asih, Si Juki, Si Unyil, Si Blind from Hantu Cave and Satria Dewa Gatotkaca.

Furthermore, along Jalan MH Thamrin such as in the Sarinah area and the HI Roundabout. Various interesting entertainment in Sarinah will feature entertainment, acoustic stage, and sculptured human artwork.
