Today Jokowi Inaugurates 4G BTS And Satria 1 Earth Station In North Sulawesi

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) today, Thursday, December 28, is scheduled to inaugurate 4,988 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) that have been completed by Bakti Kemenkominfo.

The inauguration of the 4G BTS project will be carried out simultaneously throughout Indonesia, which is centered in Talaud Islands Regency, North Sulawesi (Sulut).

In addition, Jokowi will also inaugurate the operation of the Republic of Indonesia (Satria) 1 satellite earth station located in Matungkas Village, Dimembe District, North Minahasa, North Sulawesi.

"The construction of 4G BTS is an effort by the government to accelerate equal distribution of digital connectivity to disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost or 3T," said Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi.

The Minister of Communication and Information said that the construction of 4G BTS by Bakti was carried out in two stages. The first stage until 2020 was built in 1,682 locations. Furthermore, in 2021 to 2022 or the second stage was built in 5,618 locations.

The entire 4G BTS phase is already on air, while the 4G BTS that Jokowi will inaugurate today is already on air in the second phase.

Of this number, there are still 628 BTS that are still not on the water for several reasons, especially security concerns in Papua.

"Through the provision of the internet, it is hoped that public services can more optimally reach the community to the 3T area, and there will be no more digital inequality," Budi Arie hoped.
