The 16th Denpasar Festival (Denfest) activity in 2023 lasts for four days, 22-25 December 2023 in Catur Muka, Denpasar City, Bali, posted sales transactions of more than IDR 4.9 billion.

Head of the Denpasar City Tourism Office, Luh Putu Riyastiti, said that the Denfest 2023 with the theme Jayastambha has provided a positive trend for economic growth in Denpasar City.

"Especially in 2023, the number of transactions at the Denfest event reached more than Rp. 4.9 billion, consisting of Rp. 2.64 billion from culinary sales and Rp. 2.26 billion from crafts," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 27.

The number of transactions this year has increased compared to the previous year which was in the range of IDR 3.4 billion.

Riyastiti stated that the transactions recorded were buying and selling activities carried out in several zones, namely the culinary heritage zone in Gajah Mada Street Area, handicraft and fashion zones in the Veteran Street area, fushion culinary zone at Puputan I Gusti Ngurah Made Agung Field, as well as the WMD, BI and HIPMI zones.

"As we can see, public interest in visiting Denfest is very high. Astungkara (grateful) the number of transactions in 2023 has increased from last year, which was more than IDR 4.9 billion," he said.

Ryastiti said the number of these transactions could not be separated from the number of visitors who reached approximately 58,000 for more than four days.

This is because the implementation of Denfest in 2023 coincides with school holidays and is still in a series of atmospheres for Christmas and New Year's Day 2024. However, supporting weather also affects the number of transactions and visits.

"The momentum happens to be close to a big day, the weather also supports it, so people's interest in shopping increases, either for souvenirs or for their own use for holidays," he said.

Riyastiti said endek and culinary weaving is the most popular product in Denfest this year. Endek is a Balinese handicraft that has become an icon of Denpasar City, while culinary booths are the prima donna because it provides traditional processed products that vary and have a distinctive taste.

"We are grateful to all parties who always support the implementation of Denfest which can provide space for promotion, economic strengthening and education as well as year-end recreational rides for the people of Denpasar City," he said.

The implementation of this year's Denfest involved 178 MSMEs consisting of 89 culinary MSMEs and 89 craft SMEs/IKMs. In addition, this year's Denfest also presents a vehicle for music and culture by involving at least 2,561 performers who lasted for four days.
